CHAIRMAN'S NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2013

Dear All,

It is with great regret that Jess Rowarth has stepped down as league secrtery due to moving and no longer having the facilaties to complete the job at hand. Therefore for the time being I have taken on the task until a new secrtery can be found. If any league member would like to put themselves forward for the position please contact me direct.

Thursday 9th March is the 2013 cup and salver semi finals. In accordance with our sponsor (Riley's) these are being held at Riley's in Guildford. The draw will take place on the night so please can all teams arrive for 7:45 to witness the draw so we can have an 8pm start.

With only 7 league matches left of the season 1st place has already run away with not only 9 points ahead of second but also have a 2 match advantage. 2nd place on the other hand is all to play for with 4 teams in with a chance but all 4 teams can not rest as any one of them caught napping could soon find themselves left on the sidelines.

At the end of this season as always we will be holding our yearly competitions with the addition of a new comp (Scotch Doubles) which was tried for the first time last year and was decided to add it in as permanant comp. All competitions money will be paid out in cash prizes so why not give it a try. the more that enter the bigger the prize fund will be.

Yours Thankfully

Go Purple For Kidney Research
WSPL News

Hi all , As some might know or not my daughter Sarah-Jayne has been on life support therapy for the last 6 years due to kidney failure this has meant she has to spend 4 hours a time 3 days a week on dialysis . She managed a break for 2 years when she had what we hoped was a successful transplant but unfortunately this failed when she became ill and she is now back on dialysis treatment and waiting for what we hope will be her last transplant.

Without the support and the on going research they do for kidney failure our own story could have been so different, so in order for us to give something back and to help the others who face the same situation or anyone in the future we have organized a charity night at The Princess Pub, Princess Road in maybury on the 2nd Feb starting from 7pm and going on till late.
There will be a disco on the night plus a raffle with prizes that range from dinner for 2 to something from the lotus f1 team to a week in Tenerife and many more.

please come along and support our charity event . Raffle tickets are priced at £1 a strip or 3 for £2 or 7 for £5 hope to see as many of you there as possible yours snooker a.

Founders Cup / Salver 2012
Competitions

Welcome to the 2012 Founders Cup and Salver.

Last Year saw The George A take there 6th win in a row for the Founders Cup Title. This year we will have a new team on the trophy for sure due to the demise of the George A team but which team will it be?. With Raptors currently in first place I fear they are the firm faviouates but not far behind we have Riley's Raiders who are also in a with a firm shout.

The Salver on the other hand has had a diffrent team win it for the past 8 years with Riley's Rumblers taking the 2011 title on there third Salver final. With a close league match against Woking Snooker already this season which went to a final frame decider and was won by Woking Snooker could we see them taking another win in the prelim round to push Rumblers in to the plate or will we see the Rumblers come out for revenge.

The draw can be found in the Cup/Salver link on the home page.

I will place my predictions in the froums so why not join me and tell us your predictions for the Prelim round.

2012 Cup Tournament

The West Surrey Pool League can proudly announce in partnership with, The Woking And District Pool League and The Guildford Pool League, a brand new cup tournament this Summer.

All teams from the 3 leagues are invited to enter this exciting knock-out tournament, there will be a fee of £2 per team to enter, which will cover costs of trophies.

The draw will take place for the whole event on or around July 24th.
Matches will be based on the format of sections of 4-4-3 and will be first to 6 frames.

Matches will be scheduled for a Monday night, but teams will have the option to switch to another day during that week, if both captains agree.

The final will be a 2-legged match, with a toss of the coin to decide who has home advantage first, the 1st leg will have all 11 frames played, with the 2nd leg being played until the losing side can not possibly win the match, if the match is tied at 11-11, then the match will be decided by a one-off frame of Scotch Doubles, with both captains deciding their pairings.

The Woking and District Pool League will be Presenting the trophies at our Summer League Presentation Night, which will be held on a Friday night in October, the winning team this year will then give their own league the chance to present next years winner at their own Presentation Night.

Teams will have until July 23rd to register their place and the 1st round will start the following Monday 30th July.

The date for the Finals will be announced once the amount of teams is determined.
